privacy

updated 18 August 2026

in short
  • getset.fun is a living-room game service. Hosts create an account. Players can join a room with just a name.
  • We collect names, host emails, avatar drawings, what happens in a room, and technical logs. We do not sell that information.
  • Drawings, answers, and nicknames stay in the room. We do not reuse them in ads or on the public site.
  • The service runs on Vercel and Supabase. Their systems may be outside Australia.
  • We use hosting logs and analytics to keep the lights on, to understand how people find us, and to make the games better.
  • We may send occasional product updates. Every one of those emails will let you opt out.
  • You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information. Write to hello@getset.fun.

who we are

getset.fun is a personal project run from Queensland, Australia. There is no company behind it yet. When these pages say we or us, they mean the operator of getset.fun.

Questions about this notice, access, correction, deletion, or a complaint: hello@getset.fun.

what we collect

It depends on how you show up.

If you create a host account, we collect:

  • your display name
  • your email address
  • the avatar you draw, and the colour you pick
  • which plan you chose, while the public alpha is free
  • when you signed in, and basic account status

If you join a room as a player, we collect:

  • the display name you type
  • anything you send in that room: answers, votes, drawings, scores, and whether you are still connected

From almost everyone who loads the site, our servers collect:

  • technical logs such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and timestamps
  • sign-in cookies, so we can tell it is still you after you enter a one-time password
  • analytics about how people find getset.fun, which games get played, and where a night gets stuck

We do not ask for payment cards, government IDs, health information, or precise GPS. Please do not put those in a display name, a drawing, or an answer.

how we collect it

Mostly from you: the join form, a room nickname, and what you play.

Some of it arrives automatically when your browser talks to our hosts. That is normal for any website.

If a friend hosts a room, they do not give us your email. They share a code or a link. You choose the name the TV shouts.

why we use it

We use personal information to:

  • run accounts, rooms, scores, and the night you came for
  • email a sign-in link or a one-time password
  • send occasional product updates about new games or changes. You can opt out any time
  • understand how people find us, which titles get played, and where the product is rough
  • keep the service safe: spam, abuse, offensive names, and attacks on the site
  • answer you when you write in
  • meet a legal request we cannot ignore

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent it. We do not run other people’s ads on getset.fun.

who else sees it

People in your room see your display name, avatar, and what you play. That is the point of a living-room game.

We also use other companies to run the service:

  • Vercel, which runs the website. It will see technical logs and the pages people load
  • Supabase, which stores accounts, rooms, and sends the sign-in email
  • analytics tools, when we switch them on, so we can see usage in aggregate and improve the games

Those providers only get what they need to do that job. We may also share information with a professional adviser, or if the law requires it, or if someone buys or takes over this project later. If that happens, this notice still applies until we replace it.

does it leave australia?

Yes, it can. Vercel, Supabase, and analytics tools often store or process information in the United States, the European Union, or other countries. We cannot always name every region in advance.

When information leaves Australia, the local privacy rules may be different. We pick known providers and we expect them to look after what we send.

cookies, logs, and analytics

Sign-in cookies are how we keep you logged in. Without them, a host account does not work.

Hosting logs (from Vercel and similar) help us debug outages and misuse. They usually include an IP address and a user agent.

Analytics help us understand marketing (how people arrived) and product (which games are played, where people drop off). That can include pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location from IP, and a referrer.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Sign-in may stop working if you block essential cookies. If we later add tracking that needs a consent prompt in your region, we will put that prompt on the site rather than hide it in this notice.

how long we keep it

We keep information for as long as we need it to run the service, including accounts, rooms, scores, safety, and backups.

If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify what we no longer need, unless we must keep a record (for example a ban, a security log, or a legal hold).

Guest nicknames and in-room drawings are not a public archive. We still may keep them for a while so a host can finish a night, so we can investigate abuse, and so backups can expire on their own cycle.

how we look after it

We use HTTPS, access controls on the database, and providers who treat this as their job. No website is perfectly safe. If something goes wrong that is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell the people affected and, where we should, a regulator.

your choices and rights

You can:

  • edit your display name and avatar in your account, when that screen is available
  • opt out of product-update emails with the link in the email, or by writing to us
  • ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it
  • ask us to delete your account and the personal information we no longer need

If you are in the UK or EEA, you may also have the right to restrict or object to some uses, to withdraw consent, and to receive a portable copy of information you gave us. Write to hello@getset.fun and say what you want. We may need to confirm it is you.

We will not charge you for an ordinary request. If a request is the same one over and over, or is not about you, we may say no and tell you why.

children

getset.fun is for people 13 or older. If the law where you live says you must be older to use a service like this, that older age applies.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think we have, write to hello@getset.fun and we will delete it.

A host should not invite a younger child into a room. Living rooms are mixed. Names and drawings still have to be decent. See our terms.

how to complain

Write to hello@getset.fun with privacy in the subject if you can. Tell us what happened. We will read it and reply.

If you are in Australia and you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

If you are in the UK or EEA, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

changes to this notice

We will update this page when our practices change. The date at the top will change too. Last updated 18 August 2026.

If a change is material, we will try to email hosts, or put a note on the site.
